Miss France: Heads the 1000 Guineas market

Miss France, ante-post favourite for the Qipco 1000 Guineas, and Group One winner Vorda both feature in what could be a key Classic trial in the Prix Imprudence at Maisons-Laffitte on Thursday.

The Andre Fabre-trained Miss France won the Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket last September on what was her third racecourse start and she has been among the market leaders for the Guineas since that victory.

Fabre has underlined the Newmarket ground will be key to Miss France's Guineas run next month and has also warned the filly will not be fully tuned up for her seasonal bow.

"She has done reasonably well over the winter and I'm happy with her condition," said Fabre.

"Sometimes this race can be very difficult to win as some see it as their target and are ready to run for their lives. That will not be the case with her. It will be a nice introduction for her and I will be able to assess her after it.

"She was very impressive at Newmarket and the form looks good. She works well but she has only had three runs so we are still learning about her.

"As for Newmarket, the ground will be the decisive factor. We have had a good winter so we may have a wet spring. She must have good ground.

"She has already won over a mile and (her sire) Dansili gets mile-and-a-half horses, so stamina should not be an issue this year. Her dam was third in the Vermeille, also."

The Philippe Sogorb-trained Vorda enjoyed a very productive juvenile campaign with her only defeat in her first five races coming at the hands of the American colt No Nay Never in the Prix Morny.

She then won the Cheveley Park before stepping up to a mile at the Breeders' Cup, where she could finish only seventh behind Charlie Hills' ill-fated Chriselliam.
