Jason Maguire: Will move closer to home
Jason Maguire is set to be moved to a hospital closer to his Gloucester home as he continues to recover from a nasty fall at Stratford last Monday.
The Grand National-winning jockey was unseated from Scots Gaelic at the second flight in a two-mile handicap hurdle and kicked in the stomach by another horse.
Maguire was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry, where X-rays revealed he suffered a fractured sternum and bleeding on his liver which resulted in having part of it removed. He was put into an induced coma while he had an operation.
"It's been a week since Jason's fall. He's up and about and all being well, he will be moved to Gloucester today or tomorrow, if a bed is available," said his agent Chris Broad.
"I've not spoken to him, but he's sent me a few messages and a picture. He's been up and about and had some fresh air.
"I've no idea yet when he'll back riding. He was poorly last week and he had some more blood given to him.
"He received no visitors over the weekend because he didn't feel great, but once he's back in Gloucester he'll be having visitors again.
"I'm speculating he won't be in Gloucester too long once he's moved there. He's made good progress over the weekend."
