Harry Topper: Needs some rain
Having looked guaranteed to get his preferred soft ground for months, Kim Bailey will now be doing a rain dance to aid Harry Topper's chance in the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday week.
After a record-breaking winter of rainfall, the weather forecast suggests a dry week in the lead up to the big meeting.
And while that is music to the ears of most, Bailey admits it greatly hampers the chances of the Charlie Hall and Denman Chase winner who would be bidding to give the trainer a second Gold Cup success after Master Oats in 1995.
"He wants soft ground, if it was good ground he wouldn't run, good to soft would pose us a bit of a problem," Bailey told Betfred TV.
"I hope it rains on Friday morning. It rained last year on Friday and a repeat of that would be very helpful.
"He has never shown us anything at home, he never has done, but his course form is getting better.
"He does love soft ground and frankly if we ran him on good ground he'd get lapped but he's got unbelievable guts and if the ground is bottomless he'll run an absolute stormer."
