Brown Panther is to skip the Dubai Gold Cup on World Cup night in Meydan.

Part-owner Michael Owen tweeted the Tom Dascombe-trained six-year-old will instead have the first part of his campaign built around the Ascot Gold Cup.

Brown Panther was last seen finishing a respectable eighth in the Melbourne Cup having won the Goodwood Cup in August.

Owen said: "We have decided to bypass Dubai and target Brown Panther at the Ascot Gold Cup as his early-season target with a race or two in the lead up."
