The Royal Artillery Gold Cup will now be run at Wincanton on April 2 after it was lost to its usual home at Sandown on February 14 due to waterlogging.

The conditions and value of the race (£10,000) will be the same and entries will close on March 27.

The contest is restricted to horses that are owned or have been leased by those who are serving or have served in the Royal Artillery or one of its recognised establishments or units.

Andrew Cooper, Sandown head of racing and clerk of the course, said: "There was no suitable remaining fixture here.

"This historic race has not been lost since 1952 and all involved have worked hard to ensure a renewal for this year at another of the Jockey Club's racecourses."
