Lingfield's turf track could be hit by more rain
A jumpers' bumpers card has been provisionally programmed for Lingfield on Wednesday.
Conditions on the turf track haven been problematic for some weeks due to weather conditions, and more rain is forecast for the region, leading to a contingency plan being put in place should the turf jumps fixture be abandoned.
Partially funded by the Horserace Betting Levy Board, the seven-race card will be made up of the existing Mares' Intermediate Open National Hunt Flat race, a new Standard Open National Hunt Flat race and five 'Jumper's Bumper' events primarily aimed at chasers and hurdlers. With a division, a maximum of eight races are possible.
Ordinarily, under the Rules of Racing, horses which have run in chases or hurdle races are not eligible to run in National Hunt Flat races, so the British Horseracing Authority has modified the rules with regard to this fixture.
The races close at noon on Saturday, with declarations to run to be made by 10.00am on Tuesday.
A decision on whether the provisional card will be activated will be made by 1pm on Monday.
