Last year's winner Farraaj is among 37 entries for the £100,000 coral.co.uk Winter Derby at Lingfield on March 22.

Roger Varian's five-year-old got the better of Robin Hoods Bay in a thrilling renewal of the Group Three contest 12 months ago, but has not been seen since failing to fire in the Grade One TVG Pacific Classic at Del Mar in America last August.

Chris Wall could run 2012 Winter Derby winner Premio Loco, while fellow Newmarket trainer David Simcock may saddle Castilo Del Diablo, who holds an entry in this weekend's Winter Derby Trial.

Simcock said: "The Winter Derby is an option for Castilo Del Diablo and we will test the water in the trial on Saturday."

Mull Of Killough was last seen finishing a close-up fourth in the Group One Emirates Stakes at Flemington on November 9, and has the Winter Derby as a "back-up".

Trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam said: "Mull of Killough is in the Winter Derby and the Godolphin Mile in Dubai.

"He has been invited to Dubai and we have accepted, but you never know what is around the corner in racing and we have the Winter Derby as a back-up.

"He has wintered great and put on 33 kilos when he got back from Australia, so I am very pleased.

"He has done one piece of work and is gearing up now."

The only Irish-trained entry in the Winter Derby is Jim Bolger's 2011 Dewhurst Stakes winner Parish Hall, while Calvin Williams and Vodkato are potential challengers from France.

Other notable entries include Grandeur, the John Gosden-trained pair of Dick Doughtywylie and Gatewood, Chookie Royale and lightly-raced four-year-old String Theory.

The winner of the Winter Derby is guaranteed a free start in the £200,000 Coral Easter Classic over the same course and distance on All-Weather Championships Finals Day on Good Friday.
