Annacotty wings the last at Kempton
Annacotty could bid for further glory at Kempton next month after giving trainer Martin Keighley a first Grade One triumph at the Sunbury track on Boxing Day.
The six-year-old is pencilled in for the big three-mile handicap chase on February 15 after springing a 12-1 surprise in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase
"There is no set plan at the moment, but it might be worth giving him an entry in what was the Racing Post Chase. The handicapper has given him a rating of 144," Keighley told At The Races.
"He loves Kempton so he'll have an entry in that and we'll decide whether to go to Cheltenham or not."
Keighley is mulling a couple of long-distance races next week for Merlin's Wish after not declaring him for the At The Races Sussex National at Plumpton on Sunday.
The nine-year-old could bid to complete a hat-trick over fences in either the North Yorkshire Grand National Handicap Chase at Catterick on Thursday and the Betfred Classic Chase two days later.
"He's a real improving horse and just loves a test of stamina," said the Condicote trainer.
"He might go to Catterick for the three-mile-six National they've got up there. That's next week, or he may go to Warwick next Saturday for their staying chase over three miles five which is a nice prize. He might take his chance in that."
