Sizing Europe: Set to be dropped in trip
Sizing Europe will revert to just over two miles at Leopardstown this Christmas following his second-placed finish at Down Royal on Saturday.
Trainer Henry de Bromhead will abandon plans to campaign the 11-year-old over three miles after he looked rather one-paced behind Roi Du Mee in the JNwine.com Champion Chase.
The 2011 Queen Mother Champion Chase hero is now set to drop in distance for the Grade One Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase which he won last season.
De Bromhead said: "He was generally disappointing but ate up (on Saturday night). I think he was finally tell me we should go back (in trip) and look at the Dial-A-Bet."
The trainer hopes to run Sizing Europe in the Ryanair Chase over two miles and five furlongs at the Cheltenham Festival next March.
"The rain came at the wrong time and he jumped slowly. He looked like he couldn't go with them which is ridiculous for a two-mile chaser," he added.
"We'll stick to two, two and a half miles now - that's what we've agreed. If we are lucky enough to still have him running well next March I imagine the Ryanair would be the race for him."
