Tony McCoy: Closing on an incredible 4000 winners
A brief guide to Tony McCoy's booked ride for Wednesday as he closes in on the remarkable landmark of 4000 career victories.
AP McCoy: Current career winners 3998
AP McCoy still needs two winners to record his landmark success after drawing a blank at Exeter on Tuesday. The champion jockey now has just one booked rider at Chepstow after one of his intended mounts was declared a non-runner.
13.10: El Macca
Well bred youngster representing top connections and the market may well prove to be the best guide to his chances of making a winning racecourse debut. Forecast price: 5/2
14.40: Mission Complete
Now taken out of the race due to the soft ground at the Welsh track.
Reflecting on his day at Exeter, McCoy said: "Obviously my first winner was here and it would have been nice to have another winner today, but it wasn't to be.
"Flemenson was a close-run thing, he ran well but he was giving a bit of weight to the winner. Unfortunately he got beat.
"Well Hello There made a mistake down the back which really put paid to his chances. Keen Eye ran OK actually, he ran as well as I expected to be fair."
Assessing his chances at Chepstow, McCoy said: "El Macca is named after a friend of mine Steve McManaman (former England, Liverpool and Real Madrid winger) - I'm not sure he's got as much ability as Steve had but hopefully he will run OK."
On the chances of his beloved Arsenal winning in the Champions League against Dortmund on Wednesday night, McCoy said: "We did well at the weekend against Liverpool and have come together well as a team. Dortmund are one of the favourites and if Arsenal got a result there it would be a good one."
