Queen Catrine: Back to Longchamp next year
Queen Catrine is likely to be prepared for a return to Longchamp next year after her fine third in Sunday's Prix Marcel Boussac.
Charlie Hills' filly has only won once in six starts but has produced a number of sterling efforts in Pattern company, including when second to Lucky Kristale in the Lowther Stakes.
On her step up to a mile and to a Group One, Queen Catrine needed to be chased along by Jamie Spencer but began to pick up and was eventually beaten just two and a half lengths by the winner, Indonesienne.
"We were worried immediately before the race as she was very lacklustre and not her usual self," the trainer told his website.
"Jamie said she was the same going down to the start and initially in the race, but once she got rolling she ran on well to finish third.
"We were really pleased to see she got the mile well and acted round the course, as she could well come back next spring and run in the French Guineas."
Hills also reported his Khalid Abdullah-owned filly Cambridge, who made an impressive winning debut at Nottingham last week, would probably now be put away for next season.
