Davy Russell: Scored on Toner D'Oudaires
Bayan brought up a hat-trick over hurdles in the feature race of the day at Listowel.
The Gordon Elliott-trained four-year-old has won twice at Perth this summer, with a second-placed finish on the Flat at Galway in between, and again showed plenty of spirit in the Listowel Races Supporters Club Lartigue Hurdle.
The 5/1 favourite was joined by One Fine Day two flights from home, but the latter rather made a meal of the last hurdle to give Bayan a definitive edge.
Call Me Bubbles stayed on for second under Ruby Walsh, but Elliott's inmate had enough in reserve to strike by a length and a half in the hands of Davy Condon.
Bayan is owned by the Core Syndicate, whose members include racing presenter Gary O'Brien.
O'Brien said: "We're thrilled with that. We were very worried about the ground beforehand, to be honest, but he's been a smashing little horse and I think that's the fourth race he's won since we got him.
"Gordon has done a great job. We had a chat earlier on about whether we'd run or not.
"I was a little bit worried about the ground - he was as well, to be fair.
"If it hadn't been such a big race we might have pulled him out because Gordon does think he's a better horse on better ground.
"I'm absolutely thrilled we took the chance, it worked out great. It's great to have a winner here in Listowel."
Stablemate Toner D'Oudairies (7/1) had earlier accounted for Ancient Days by a length and a half in the John F McGuire Novice Chase for jockey Davy Russell.
Elliott said: "He was very disappointing the last day - they went very quick early and he half-sulked.
"Davy rightly pulled him up then when the race was over.
"He's not a novice for much longer and it was a nice pot so we said we'd let him take his chance."
