Fiesolana: Could head to Newmarket
The Challenge Stakes at Newmarket is a possible target for Fiesolana following her creditable performance in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday.
Having secured a hat-trick of Group Three prizes already this season, the four-year-old was supplemented for the Group One event at a cost of 22,500 euro.
Fiesolana had to finish in the first three to recoup the fee and although she came home fifth, trainer Willie McCreery was proud in defeat.
He said: "She's come out of the race 100%, unfortunately it just wasn't run to suit on the day.
"They didn't go fast enough for her early on, she was a bit keen and ended up pulling her way to the front. When you're racing at Group One level you need everything to go right and, unfortunately, it didn't.
"It's a shame she didn't finish in the first three, but she still ran a blinder and we'll probably look to drop back to seven furlongs now in either a Group One or a Group Two.
"The Group Two Challenge Stakes at Newmarket (October 12) could be a target. The other option is the Group One Prix de la Foret at Longchamp (October 6)."
