Burning Thread: Sandown winner
Burning Thread never allowed his rivals a look-in as he struck for Tim Etherington and Adam Beschizza in the Betfred Goals Galore Handicap at Sandown.
Malton-based Ethington had to help the sprinter with his issues in the stalls but he bounced away and put the event to bed at halfway, eventually winning by two lengths.
The 7-1 shot had landed the Listed Scurry Stakes over course and distance three years ago but Etherington said: "He had an injury at the end of his three-year-old career and it really knocked his confidence.
"To help him in the stalls, I have to take the blind off very slowly, and he's fine.
"I'd love to take him to the Portland Handicap but even five and a half furlongs at Doncaster is stretching him."
Robert Eddery enjoyed a notable moment in his training career as the tough Vasily (12-1) collected the £60,000 Betfred TV & Levy Board Handicap.
Polished apprentice Robert Tart helped the fast-ground lover thrust a neck in front of Fennell Bay at the line and Eddery, brother of Pat, said: "He's a very highly-strung horse and I made mistakes with him last year as I ran him a couple of times on soft ground and he hated it.
"This year I've made sure he only ran on fast ground. Dubai is where I want to go with him, as he loves the sun, and he'll be rated 100 now so he's eligible to go there."
Lilyfire (5-2 joint-favourite) got hopelessly trapped behind horses in the betfred.com Nursery before flashing home for second behind Ryan Moore and Gown (14-1).
Rainbow Beauty (16-1) won the Betfred Double Delight/Hat Trick Heaven Handicap.
The filly was one of Gerard Butler's horses to have tested positive for the banned product Sungate and was having her first run for 299 days.
The concluding Watch Fred's Pushes On Betfred TV Handicap went to Marcus Tregoning's Opera Box (7-1) in a very tight finish.
