Haggas: Trains Ertijaal
William Haggas has been forced to rule Ertijaal out of his imminent engagements after meeting a setback.
Owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum, the Oasis Dream colt was narrowly beaten by subsequent Vintage Stakes winner Toormore on debut but made no mistake next time, winning a Yarmouth maiden by six lengths with the minimum of fuss.
He held an entry in the Prix Morny this weekend, the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack at York next week and races like the Champagne Stakes and Royal Lodge but plans are on hold.
"Ertijaal isn't quite right at the moment which is why he isn't going to France and he won't be going to York either, " said Haggas.
"It's very unfortunate but we are hoping that he might be able to come back in time for something at the end of the season.
"It's a real shame as we think he's a very nice colt but at the moment we just can't keep on top of the problem.
"It's not life threatening, though, so hopefully he'll be back."
However, Haggas is still able to call on Richmond Stakes winner Saayerr.
He said: "We'll run Saayerr in the Gimcrack, he's a nice horse in his own right."
