Stratford's card on Monday has fallen to the weather
Monday's popular meeting at Stratford has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.
The fixture traditionally attracts a good ground on the eve of the Cheltenham Festival, with a number of Irish punters making the journey to England a day early in an attempt to boost their Festival funds.
However, the course has been hit by significant rainfall in the last few days and clerk of the course Stephen Lambert has made an early decision to call off the card.
Lambert said: "I just called an inspection this morning because I wanted to have a good look at the state of the track.
"Although we didn't have much rain overnight, we have had persistent rain over the past few days on ground that was already very tender.
"The course has been flooded three times this winter and conditions are desperate at the moment.
"It's a great shame as this is always a good meeting for us, but we've been left with absolutely no alternative."
