Finian's Rainbow, last season's Queen Mother Champion Chase hero, is among a select field of six for the Betfair Ascot Chase at the Berkshire track on Saturday.
The ten-year-old, trained by Nicky Henderson, is on a retrieval mission having had a wind operation since disappointing on his only run of the season so far at Ascot in November.
He trailed in last of four in the Amlin Chase and the winner Captain Chris is also in this line-up.
Philip Hobbs' charge has been in much better form and nearly beat Long Run in the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.
Both horses are running to cement their places at next month's Cheltenham Festival along with Cue Card, who drops back in trip after weakening into fifth place in the King George.
Somersby is another Cheltenham possible.
The Mick Channon-trained nine-year-old made a decent return to action when third to Sprinter Sacre in the Victor Chandler Chase at Ascot last month.
The Paul Nicholls-trained Ghizao and Pigeon Island, from the Nigel Twiston-Davies stable, complete the sextet.
