Leopardstown: No concerns for Saturday's card

Officials at Leopardstown have no real concerns about the weather ahead of a fantastic meeting at the Foxrock venue on Saturday.

The two-day Irish Champion Hurdle fixture at the end of last month was run in extremely testing conditions following heavy rain, but Leopardstown's racing and operations manager Nessa Joyce is pleased to report there has been a big improvement over the weekend.

Saturday's card showcases four Grade One events, with the Hennessy Gold Cup, featuring the likes of Flemenstar and Sir Des Champs, taking centre stage.

Joyce said: "It's a different story to the days leading up to our last meeting and we enjoyed much-improved weather over the weekend. Both tracks are improving well. The chase track is soft to heavy, soft in places and the hurdle track is soft, yielding to soft in places.

"We've tweaked one or two things with the chase track but hopefully we'll be able to jump them all as the fences we had to miss out the last day have recovered well.

"Looking at the forecast, I don't think there are any alarm bells ringing at the moment. I don't think we're going to get any major sunshine, but we should get some sunny spells as well as a few showers.

"It's due to be quite cold tonight and we could get a wintry shower, but we have a good breeze that is a big help. The course has made big strides since the last meeting already and I'm very happy with the way it's going."
