David Bridgwater will take his time before deciding whether Wyck Hill will take his chance in the Coral Welsh National on December 27.
The eight-year-old returned from 11 months off the track to win a decent race at Wetherby, taking his record over fences to three wins from just fives starts.
He is around 25-1 for the Chepstow marathon, but Bridgwater may run him before then.
"There's a couple of races he could run in before the Welsh National," said the Gloucestershire handler.
"He may go to Ascot for the Silver Cup if he gets in, or there's a race at Cheltenham he could run in at weekend.
"We've looked after him with a view to the long term and hopefully it pays off and he can earn his corn this year."
