David Bridgwater is looking forward to challenging for the big staying races with The Giant Bolster following his fine effort on his seasonal reappearance in the Betfair Chase.
Last season's surprise runner-up in the Cheltenham Gold Cup bettered the trainer's expectations by filling third place behind Silviniaco Conti and Long Run in the Haydock feature on Saturday, just seven lengths behind the winner.
"We were absolutely delighted with the run. I thought if we could get within 10 lengths of those horses on the first run of the season then we are well ahead of schedule. It's really exciting," said Bridgwater.
"He's got a couple of options, he's in the King George on Boxing Day, so we'll see how it pans out.
"There are some big races coming up and we will be in the thick of them. It's great."
