Southwell: Fixture could be transferred

Wednesday's meeting at Southwell has been cancelled, although discussions are under way to see if the fixture can be transferred, while Tuesday's National Hunt meeting at Sedgefield has been abandoned.

Southwell Clerk of the course Roderick Duncan was forced to abandon Monday and Tuesday's meetings at the venue due to a waterlogged track.

He reports conditions to be worse on Monday morning so Wednesday's card cannot be run at the Nottinghamshire course, although they are hoping to switch the meeting to Wolverhampton.

He said: "I would say it's worse here this morning, we have water through some of the buildings and on the track.

"We won't be racing here on Wednesday but the meeting is not abandoned yet as there are discussions about transferring the card."

Meanwhile, Tuesday's meeting at Sedgefield has also been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Clerk of the course Phil Tuck was forced to call an 8.30am inspection with areas of standing water on the track and more rain forecast.

He said: "We have abandoned. It's still raining now and there are patches of standing water on the track."
