Top jockey Wayne Hutchinson looks ahead to the weekend and an exciting ride at Haydock Park on Balder Succes.
I am looking forward to getting back on Balder Succes at Haydock on Saturday and he ran a really good race on his comeback at Wincanton in the Elite Hurdle.
He has improved for the run and this looks a great opportunity as he has form on soft ground and I could not be happier after schooling him over six hurdles at home on Thursday. He is a horse I am really looking forward to riding.
I can't see Haydock posing too many problems for Warwick specialist Trigger The Light in the staying handicap chase and he has been a tremendous servant over the years.
He has gone up six pounds from his win at Warwick at the backend of last season and he is not getting any younger but he should fall into a race at some stage this season - I don't know whether or not it will be on Saturday.
I rode The Mumper to victory at Market Resen on Thursday and it was not a surprise that he won as his previous form had been solid enough.
He had been beaten by a horse of Alan's (King) in May called Turn Over Sivola, who had won under a penalty on Monday.
His form was good enough to go and win a novice and although Alan's Uxizandre was more fancied, it was a messy race and fell into my hands rather than the favourite on this occasion.
The Mumper is a nice sort who has done well through physically the summer and should improve again mentally for the run. He hurdled well and went about his business in the right way at the end.
