Sri Putra is settling into his temporary home in Tokyo as Roger Varian's staff prepare the six-year-old for Sunday's Japan Cup.

There is a formidable European team for the prestigious mile-and-a-half prize, with Prix de l'Arc de Trioumphe winner Solemia taking the trip for a rematch with the Japanese-trained runner-up Orfevre.

Mount Athos, Red Cadeaux and Jakkalberry have also all been nominated to travel across after running in the Emirates Melbourne Cup.

Sri Putra won his first races for two years in 2012, in a Listed race at Kempton and the Group Two York Stakes, but made little impact against Frankel on his return to the Knavesmire in August.

Varian's travelling head lass Joanne Banks, who watched the entire take a steady canter of the Tokyo dirt circuit, said: "He's eating and drinking very well.

"As we just arrived here yesterday, he just did a gentle exercise this morning to get used to the new surroundings, and he moved very well. We're very pleased.

"He was keen to go faster in the last two furlongs which mean he's enjoying himself."
