Dynaste: Misses Wincanton

Dynaste is likely to make his chasing debut at next week's Open meeting at Cheltenham after David Pipe decided against running in Saturday's totepool Rising Stars Novices' Chase at Wincanton.

The six-year-old ended last season with a hurdle rating of 161 and is likely to take high rank in the novice chase division this term if his jumping stands up to the test.

Pipe has yet to decide whether his charge will start off over two and a half miles or go straight over three miles, the distance over which he excelled over timber.

"We decided to miss Wincanton and he will probably go to Cheltenham next week now," said Pipe.

"He goes a little bit left so it makes sense to wait. He'll be entered in the two-and-a-half-mile novice and the three-mile."

In the absence of the Pipe runner, the Grade Two event has attracted a field of eight, including Aegean Dawn, conqueror of Dynaste in 2010 and beaten just once in five career starts.

Formerly with Nicky Henderson, he has his first start for fledgling trainer Robert Walford, having not been seen since finishing down the field in Coral Cup at Cheltenham in March when strongly fancied.
