Champion Court, a general 10/1 chance, will miss the Paddy Power Gold Cup after a minor setback but should be ready for Ascot the week later.
The seven year-old was among the weights for the prestigious handicap but won't take his chance in the contest.
Trainer Martin Keighley told Sky Sports: "He had a little setback which is why he missed Kempton on Monday, but he's really pleasing me now.
"It's just for a race like the Paddy Power everything has to be spot on and I don't think he will be quite 100 per cent.
"He ran so well at the Cheltenham Festival and looking at the weights today he'd have had a good chance, but I want him to be spot on.
"It's the Amlin Chase at Ascot the week after and he'll go there, He should be absolutely spot on for that.
"Havingotascoobydo will also miss Cheltenham and go to Ascot, there's two options for him on the Friday over two miles and two-and-a-half miles."
