Mouse Morris: Excited by Rule The World

Mouse Morris is excited about what the future may hold for Rule The World after he ran a superb race for one so inexperienced at Cork on Sunday.

Another Gigginstown House Stud-owned point-to-point graduate, the five-year-old made a most impressive debut under Rules in a two-mile maiden hurdle at Punchestown last month.

Morris upped his charge to three miles for the Grade Three Paddy Power Phone 1800 721 821 European Breeders Fund Novice Hurdle and after travelling like much the best horse in the field, he was run out of it close home by Our Vinnie.

The trainer could hardly have been more delighted if Rule The World had come home in front and he already has one eye on next season, saying: "He ran an absolute cracker."

"If he had jumped the last two as well as the winner he might have won, but it was still a hell of a run for a horse having just his second run over hurdles.

"We only ran him over three miles because we thought it wouldn't be putting the gun to his head so much. He can come back to two or two and a half miles now and hopefully he's got a big future. He's next year's horse."

Morris also issued an upbeat bulletin on the incredible Baily Green, who recorded his seventh consecutive victory in Cork's Paddy Power Text 51465 European Breeders Fund Novice Chase.

The six-year-old was due to have a break a while ago but continues to astound his trainer with how well he bounces back from his races.

He said: "He's an unbelievable horse. He only lost two kilos after his run the other day. I can't work him out, but I don't want to!

"There is a race at Punchestown coming up for him. That race is over two miles, which will suit him better. But I won't make any definite decision until probably the day before the race. He'll tell me whether he wants to run again."
