Paul Nicholls is set to put Silviniaco Conti through his paces on Thursday morning before committing him to Saturday's bet365 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby.

The Ditcheat trainer is keen to run the second-season chaser in the three-mile feature in West Yorkshire, but wants to be sure that everything is 100% ahead of his big test.

Silviniaco Conti ended a fine first season over fences on a high with an emphatic victory over Champion Court in the Grade Two Mildmay Novices' Chase at Aintree in April.

"As long as he works well on Thursday, he will go there," Nicholls told At The Races.

"The plan has always been to run him. We'll look at the weather and see what Thursday morning brings. We want to go.

"He's probably the only one we've got to run in those top three-mile races this year. You've got to start somewhere and it's a good place."
