Dunaden: Has a one kilogram penalty for his Caulfield Cup success
Mikel Delzangles believes that the one kilogram penalty Dunaden picked up for the Emirates Melbourne Cup when winning the Caulfield Cup is "fair enough".
Last year's Melbourne hero showed yet again that he is perfectly suited to the Australian style of racing when coming wide and fast to defy a bad draw under Craig Williams last weekend.
He will need to create his own little piece of history if he is to win the big race again, but Delzangles could not be happier with the six-year-old.
"I suppose his penalty is fair enough," said Delzangles.
"It is not going to make it any easier, obviously, but he deserves it.
"It was some performance. The Caulfield Cup is not just a prep race for the Melbourne Cup, it is a very big race in its own right so we were very happy to win that.
"Craig seems to get on very well with the horse and I hope they have one more big day together."
