Rae Guest is looking forward to saddling a fresh Mirza in the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup on Saturday.

The Newmarket trainer gave his sprinter a break after the five-year-old finished unplaced behind Soul at Newbury in July.

Now he reports Mirza, who took good races at Cork and Newmarket in June, to be ready to return to the fray in the big six-furlong handicap.

Guest also gave Mirza an alternative entry in the Dubai International Airport World Trophy at Newbury, but Ayr is the target.

"He's running at Ayr. The Newbury entry was only precautionary in case something went wrong along the line," said Guest.

"He's in great form and he runs well fresh. We're happy with that and the ground should be just right for him.

"Darryll Holland rides him. He's a jockey in great form and he's won it twice before. He wants to do it three times.

"We've got to choose a draw on Thursday but it's always difficult before racing starts to know if you're going to be on the right side or whatever."
