Wigmore Hall regained his crown in the Northern Dancer Turf Stakes Presented By Vtech at Woodbine.
Michael Bell's charge's last success had come in the Canadian Grade One contest when he scored by a neck some eight starts ago and a return to the scene of his biggest victory worked the oracle.
Partnered once again by Jamie Spencer, the son of High Chaparral was made to work hard for his victory over Al Khali and former Luca Cumani inmate Forte Dei Marmi.
Slow to jump, Wigmore Hall adopted his customary position towards the rear of the field with only the eventual third behind him.
Spencer crept closer as the field neared the turn for home and launched the six year old with a slingshot challenge as the field straightened up and the five year old always looked to be holding Al Khali having hit the front.
"He loves Canada, especially," travelling head girl Gillian Dolman told www.woodbineentertainment.com.
"He's not so great on the soft turf, but he loved the conditions here today."
The winning trainer tweeted: "So pleased for Wigmore Hall back to back wins at Woodbine. #whatastar".
