Nathaniel has been left in Wednesday's Juddmonte International at the six-day declaration stage, leaving open the prospect of a mouthwatering clash with Frankel.

John Gosden's charge finished second to Sir Henry Cecil's brilliant colt on their respective racecourse debuts at Newmarket two years ago and connections must decide between a trip to the Knavesmire or the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

As expected, Frankel, the world's highest-rated racehorse and unbeaten in 12 career starts, is joined in the field by stablemates Twice Over, who won the race last year, and pacemaker Bullet Train.

Aidan O'Brien is targeting the race with St Nicholas Abbey who could have the assistance of pacemakers himself with Robin Hood and Windsor Palace.

Farhh, runner-up to Nathaniel in the Eclipse and to Frankel in the Sussex Stakes, could reoppose and Planteur and Sri Putra complete the declarations.
