Mount Athos, an impressive winner at York last time, steps up to Group Three company at Newbury on Saturday.

The four year old made it two out of two for the season and for trainer Luca Cumani when recording a facile success on the Knavesmire in a Listed handicap and is now set to dip his toe into Pattern company in the Betfred 'The Bonus King' Geoffrey Freer Stakes.

The one mile and five furlong contest has attracted a field of just seven runners but looks a strong renewal on paper.

Harris Tweed will carry a penalty as he attempts to put a rare below par run behind him while the ex-German Arrigo will be a first runner in Britain for Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki.

Brown Panther drops faces an easier task than when beaten just four lengths into seventh behind Danedream in a high-class renewal of the King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.

Modun, behind Harris Tweed at Newmarket, is another attempting to breathe life into his season as is John Gosden's St Leger winner Masked Marvel who will have the company of his 74 rated stablemate Dartford.
