Roger Charlton has admitted that Royal Ascot is "unlikely" for Top Offer after he disappointed for the second time in as many starts in the Heron Stakes at Sandown on Thursday.
His poor run in the 2000 Guineas was put down to the soft ground, while the Beckhampton handler felt the three-year-old colt was too keen at Sandown.
"Clearly last night's result with Top Offer at Sandown was a huge disappointment to everybody here," he told www.rogercharlton.com.
"He got rather warm at the start and looked a little reluctant to be loaded and then pulled too hard for his own good for at least four furlongs which not surprisingly ended with a tame effort.
"It will be back to several drawing boards before making plans, which are unlikely to include Royal Ascot."
