Newmarket trainer Marco Botti fully expects Joshua Tree to improve for his return in the Prix Vicomtesse Vigier at Longchamp on Sunday.

The five-year-old was only narrowly beaten by Opinion Poll in Dubai on his first attempt over two miles but Joshua Tree has since been pleasing Botti at home although the Italian believes he normally takes a run or two to warm up to his best.

He said: "Joshua Tree has had a break and he takes a lot of work.

"In the past his first run back after a break hasn't been his best and he gets better with racing.

"I'm very pleased with him, he looks well and seems in good order but the ground would be a bit of an issue if it went soft - some showers are forecast for Sunday.

"He's proved he stays the trip and we've booked Olivier Peslier, who is a top-class jockey."

Joshua Tree will face seven rivals, including the Francois Doumen-trained veteran Kasbah Bliss.
