Officials at Wetherby will stage a further inspection at 11am on Saturday to assess the prospects of Sunday's meeting going ahead.
Clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson revealed parts of the back straight were waterlogged on Friday morning due to the drainage system at the track being full.
He announced an initial inspection for 3.30pm on Friday afternoon and while he saw enough improvement to delay any decision on the fixture going ahead until the weekend, he remains pessimistic.
Sanderson said on Friday afternoon: "The river level has dropped and the ditches are running. When the water does start to go it can go quite quickly.
"Having said that, we are still under water and it is still a long shot, but we may as well give it until tomorrow and see if there is any further improvement or not."
