Sprint ace set to face testing ground
Black Caviar is aiming to notch a 20th successive victory on Saturday, but faces testing conditions in the Sportingbet Classic at Morphettville.
The six-year-old equalled the Australian record and the feat of American star mare Zenyatta when triumphing for the 19th time on the bounce in the Lightning Stakes at Flemington in February.
Black Caviar will be racing in South Australia for the first time as she travels to the Adelaide venue, and will have to contend with unfamiliar conditions as the going is set to be testing.
"Although she's never raced in it, I think she's won the fastest barrier trial run at Cranbourne on a heavy 10," trainer Peter Moody told www.smh.com.au.
"It's not a major concern. The only way I would have any issues on running her is if the surface was unsafe or presented some risk to her long term, but hopefully that's not the case."
Nine rivals will take on Black Caviar, who is set to make her British debut at Royal Ascot in June, but it would be a major surprise if any came close to the world's highest-rated sprinter.
