Leading sprinter Bated Breath looks set to take his seasonal bow in the Duke of York Stakes on Wednesday May 16.
The son of Dansili was among 33 horses that stood their ground at the forfeit stage for the six-furlong Group Two contest. Two other notable contenders to remain in the race were Group One scorers Margot Did and Society Rock.
Last season Bated Breath finished runner-up in the Darley July Cup, the Nearctic Stakes in Canada and when going down by just a nose to champion sprinter Dream Ahead in the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock.
Roger Charlton's charge's final race of 2011 saw him beaten just over three lengths into eighth in the Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin last December.
Lord Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Prince Khalid Abdulla said: "Bated Breath is on course for the Duke of York and Roger (Charlton) is very pleased with him.
"He had some very good form last season, being touched off in three Group 1s. He has only won a Listed race, so it would be great to win a Group race with him. He will be targeted at all the major sprints this year."
The pink and white silks could also be carried in another Group Two contest at the end of the week as Sea Moon is entered in the Sportingbet Yorkshire Cup on Friday, May 18.
The four-year-old, successful by eight lengths in last year's Sportingbet.com Great Voltigeur Stakes, is one of 34 left in the 1m6f contest offering £140,000 in prize money, the race is the first of five Knavesmire contests that form part of the QIPCO British Champions Series.
Ascot Gold Cup winner Fame And Glory and multiple Group scorer Opinion Poll were also among the Friday entry.
