Ferdy Murphy's Divers is set to return to Cheltenham for the Ceres Estates Silver Trophy Chase on Wednesday.
The grey won the Centenary Novices' Handicap Chase at last year's Cheltenham Festival, was third in this season's Paddy Power Gold Cup and fourth in the Byrne Group Plate back at the Festival last month.
Yorkshire-based Murphy is hoping the rain stays away from Prestbury Park ahead of next week's Grade Two prize.
"If the ground is reasonable then Divers will definitely run," said the trainer.
"He has been in really good order since last month and is flying at home. We were keen to go to Haydock with him last weekend but the ground changed there, so we had a look but pulled him out because he wants good ground.
"Looking at the forecast, he will probably get his ground at Cheltenham.
"It was watered ground at the Festival and, if the race had been run on Friday, AP (McCoy) said the ground would have been perfect for him.
"They watered it on Wednesday night, so he just struggled in the ground and didn't get up the hill."
