Jockey Aidan Coleman was pleased with the performance of Pepite Rose as she took on the boys in Thursday's Betfred Manifesto Novices' Chase at Aintree.
Following four consecutive victories for Venetia Williams, the five-year-old was stepped up to Grade One level on Merseyside and was not disgraced in finishing fourth behind Menorah, Cristal Bonus and Al Ferof.
Coleman is already looking forward to next season with the talented mare.
"She was taking on some of the best novices out there and finished in touch with them," he said in his Racing UK blog.
"She travelled superbly and just didn't get home. I think a drop back in trip and another year on her back will see her compete at a good level next season."
