John Quinn's New Planet is under consideration for the Abernant Stakes at Newmarket's Craven meeting after his comeback win at Warwick on Monday.
A smart juvenile, he finished third in the Flying Childers on his final start at two but found life hard as a three-year-old but, having been gelded over the winter, he cruised to victory in a six-furlong conditions race and will now step back up in class.
Speaking on his website, www.johnquinnracing.co.uk the trainer said: "New Planet was a very decent two-year-old and as a result he paid the price for that last year.
"At times we found we were stuck between a rock and a hard place with him as he was rated too high to win a handicap but was just not ready to cut his teeth against the very best older sprinters.
"Therefore, it was pleasing to see him win readily in the hands of Tom Queally in a conditions race at Warwick.
"He was well suited to the softish conditions and had clearly taken his gelding operation over the winter well.
"I hope this race will act as a nice stepping stone for him for the season.
"It is probable that we will look to step him back into Listed or Pattern company again now. The Abernant Stakes at Newmarket's Craven meeting is a possible."
