Prince Of Johanne, who won the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket last season, could return to the scene of his greatest triumph for his seasonal debut.
Trainer Tom Tate is likely to look at a handicap over the same nine furlongs at Newmarket at the two-day Guineas meeting in early May for the six-year-old.
An alternative for the return of Prince Of Johanne is a race at the Investec Spring meeting at Epsom on April 25.
"He's doing fine and is very nearly race fit," said the Tadcaster handler.
"I'm going to discuss plans with his owners. There's the early Epsom meeting, but failing that, 10 days later there's the Guineas meeting at Newmarket back on the Cambridgeshire course.
"There's a handicap there and he could go back to that."
