Grandouet: Haydock target
Nicky Henderson reports Grandouet to be "fine" after his penultimate hurdle fall in Saturday's Elite Hurdle at Wincanton.
The four-year-old was making his first appearance since winning a Grade One at the Punchestown Festival on Saturday and looked to have the measure of eventual winner Celestial Halo when coming to grief two flights from home.
The youngster is now likely to join Betfair Chase-bound stablemate Long Run at Haydock on November 19.
"He's fine this morning thankfully. It was unfortunate but these things happen," said Henderson.
"I don't want to take anything away from Celestial Halo, but it was pretty clear Grandouet was travelling the better of the two at the time, he was just going too well.
"He was very exuberant and a bit too fresh on the day. If he's all right, he'll go for the four-year-old only race at Haydock in a fortnight's time."
