Richard Hannon will pitch impressive Newmarket maiden winner Rougemont into Group company next time.
The Montjeu two-year-old won the Weatherbys E.B.F. Mawatheeq Maiden Stakes on the July Course on Friday, a race won in recent years by Native Khan, Elusive Pimpernel and Rio De La Plata.
And he could be quickly following in their hoofprints such are the lofty targets Hannon has in mind.
The trainer told his website: "We always like to find a good one for Julie Wood, who is such a big supporter of ours, and, hopefully we've got one in Rougemont.
"He is by Montjeu, so we always hoped that he might be a bit special, but, though he had worked well, we did not expect him to win so well as he did first time out at Newmarket.
"Obviously, we will now be thumbing through the Pattern race book, and, while the Dewhurst and Racing Post Trophy could be on the agenda later on, we will take it one step at a time, and races like the Vintage at Goodwood, Solario at Sandown and Acomb at York could all come into the equation."
Rougemont was introduced to the 2,000 Guineas market at 25-1 by Sky Bet.
