Distant Memories: Munich mission possible

Trainer Tom Tate could go continental as he tries to achieve Group One success with Distant Memories.

The Tadcaster-based trainer has, as one of his options, the Grosser Dellmayr - Preis Bayerisches Zuchtrennen over a mile and a quarter at Munich on July 31, for his tough five-year-old.

The Listed Shadwell Beach House Stud Stakes at Newbury next Saturday and the Group Two Sky Bet Stakes at York a week later are others under consideration.

The son of Falbrav has Group Three and Listed successes on his CV, but the nearest he has come to victory at a higher level came when he was third in the Group Two Prix Dollar at Longchamp in October.

"He's in great form. He might go for the Sky Bet at York in a fortnight or there is a Listed race at Newbury next Saturday," said Tate.

"He's also got a Munich Group One entry at the end of July, so he's got options.

"That's over a mile and a quarter as well and I think he's better over that trip, although he got home well at Pontefract the other day over a mile and a half."
