Pat Smullen says Profound Beauty's Melbourne Cup draw is "not ideal, but not impossible".
The Irish raider has been drawn 22 of 24 for the 'race that stops a nation', and while her jockey Smullen admits that will make her task harder, he's hopeful she can still take a hand in the finish.
Trainer Dermot Weld - winner of the big race with Vintage Crop in 1993 and Media Puzzle in 2002 - ran Profound Beauty in 2008 when she finished fifth.
And Smullen is pleased with his mount as off time at Flemington draws ever nearer.
"I couldn't be more pleased with her and she's a better mare than she was two years ago, but she'll need to be to win," he said.
"The draw (22 of 24) is not ideal but not impossible."
