Ronan Murphy has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Weatherbys Ireland.
Murphy, a successful National Hunt owner, takes over from Joe Kiernan, who is retiring after 25 years in the role in November.
He joins Weatherbys from his role at Hermitage Genetics.
Weatherbys chairman Johnny Weatherby said: 'I am delighted that we have been able to recruit a candidate of Ronan's calibre and experience into this vitally important position. I am confident that he will help us to develop and grow our whole Irish operation.
"My grateful thanks go to Joe Kiernan, without whose wise stewardship the business would not be what it is today. He retires with our very best wishes."
Murphy said: "I am delighted to be able to combine my passion and knowledge for thoroughbred racing and breeding with my career, by joining such a prestigious and pivotal business as Weatherbys.
"The Irish bloodstock industry continues to be a global success and it is a privilege to lead the Weatherbys Ireland team at this exciting time in the Irish industry."
Kiernan said: 'It has been a privilege and my good fortune to spend my career working in the Irish bloodstock Industry. After 18 years with the Turf Club I joined Weatherbys in 1985 and served under first Christopher Weatherby and his successor Johnny as chairman.
"Both have been excellent to work for and have allowed me to concentrate on the key areas of integrity and customer service.
"I also owe my colleagues past and present a debt of gratitude for their help and loyal support. I wish Ronan and the team well and have no doubt they will consolidate and enhance Weatherbys position as an integral part of the Irish bloodstock industry."
