James Fanshawe has picked an interesting option for Ribbons as she makes her first appearance of the summer in Sunday's Group One Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville.
The chestnut is an important member of the Elite Racing Club, as she was bred by the team and is out of Sister Act, the sister of Elite's great racemare Soviet Song.
Ribbons looked a chip off the old block when landing her first four starts but has been restricted by the dry weather, finishing second in a Kempton Listed race and an Ascot handicap in the spring.
Elite's Dan Downie said: "She has been ready to go for a while, she hasn't had a hold up or anything, we've just had a long wait to get her ground.
"She's been working well, but it's obviously a big step up to a Group One and it's her first time racing abroad.
"James isn't stupid, and he came up with this race. You could have run into a proper race, and this is probably not the strongest Group One. Let's hope she can run well."
Alain de Royer-Dupre's Narniyn, who finished second to Sultanina in the Nassau Stakes, looks a serious rival for Ribbons.
Last year's Oaks runner-up Secret Gesture makes the journey from Britain after filling the same place in the York Stakes, while Princess Loulou represents Roger Varian and Euphrasia travels from Ireland.
