Justin Rose: Now a regular winner on the PGA Tour

Rose famously burst onto the scene with a share of fourth place in The Open as a 17-year-old amateur.

That came way back in 1998, after which he turned professional, only to miss his first 21 cuts in a row.

By contrast to those wild extremities, he's now turned himself into one of the most consistent and reliable players in the game.

The South African-born Englishman has posted four PGA Tour wins over the last few years (two in 2010, one in 2011 and the WGC-Cadillac Championship in 2012) while he also played a key role in Europe's Ryder Cup victory last September.

In addition, he's been in the top 10 of the world rankings for over a year and most of those have been spent in the top five.

Missing from his CV is a major although he's posted a top five in each to show how well he can adapt.

In the US Open it's been feast or famine for Rose. He managed a fifth on debut in 2003 and was also in the top 10 in 2007 but four of his other five starts in the year's second major have resulted in missed cuts.

A cold putter ruined his Masters challenge (25th) when tee-to-green he was excellent while earlier this season he was a runner-up in both Abu Dhabi and Bay Hill.
