Louis Oosthuizen: Strained a hip flexor during first-round 75
Louis Oosthuizen has been forced to withdraw from the US Open due to a hip injury.
The 2010 Open champion was clearly hampered during his first-round 75 at Merion after he strained his left hip flexor.
The South African underwent treatment on the problem, but doctors advised him not to tee it up in the second round to avoid causing further damage.
"I very much regret having to withdraw, but I was warned that I might face a longer absence if I tried to play on now before getting proper treatment," he said.
Oosthuizen was also forced to pull out of the Byron Nelson Championship last month after suffering a neck injury.
Rory McIlroy, Paul Casey and Thomas Bjorn could be the men to watch at the Irish Open, says Rob Lee.
