The Open 2014

13th-20th July

Presented by

Justin Rose

The Open Championship has to have a place in the heart of Justin Rose because it is where he announced himself to the world, holing out with wedge on the 72d hole of the 1998 tournament to finish in a tie for fourth as a raw 17-year-old amateur. Since then he has experienced the highs and lows of the professional game but emerged as one of the golf's most likeable players and one of Europe's strongest Stateside performers. He is yet, however, to top his first effort at an Open. In fact he is yet to register another top ten finish. But you cannot overlook his form in the last two years. Moreover you can't ignore his knack of winning big tour events like the Memorial, the BMW Championship and, this year, a first WGC event, the Cadillac Championship. Good ball-striking will be needed to avoid Lytham's hundreds of bunkers and Rose is one of the best.
